There’s a movement going on around the world - choosing a healthy lifestyle. B. Braun, a German medical technology company, is supporting that effort, working to “protect and improve people’s health worldwide.” And now, Eagle Grove resident, Barb Dooley, has joined forces with them, serving as their featured “Life Story” for the company’s annual report.

It all began in September of 2017. Dooley’s daughter, Beth, was in Europe working on her PhD in Agriculture and Social Sciences. That’s when her friend from Berlin sent her an email telling her B. Braun was looking for a representative from the United States between the ages of 55 and 75 to serve as their featured person for their upcoming annual report. She suggested Beth nominate her mom. Beth thought the email was a hoax and emailed her friend back saying that she thought she had been hacked. Her friend responded that she had indeed sent the email and they were a legitimate company. Beth nominated her mom.

Barb was asked to fill out a three-page survey answering a variety of medical questions. Since B. Braun is in the business of making knee and hip replacement parts, dialysis supplies... and some other 120,000 products, they wanted to make sure that Barb knew people with specific health problems who do or could use their products to improve their lifestyle. They wanted to know things like - Do you know anyone with a knee replacement? Do you know anyone with heart problems a pacemaker? Do you know anyone on dialysis. Do you know anyone with diabetes? Barb, having worked more than 30 years as a nurse, knew many people who fit the bill of their questions, making her the perfect candidate.

Much to all of their excitement, Barb was contacted in November and told she was selected to have her healthy lifestyle spotlighted in B. Braun’s 2017 Annual Report. Shortly after, a gentleman came from Germany and wrote a biography about Barb and her husband, Tim, as well as their children and grandchildren.
