Burton Fjetland

GOLDFIELD – Burton Duane Fjetland, the son of Emile and Louise (Larsen) Fjetland, was born on October 10, 1933, in Dakota City, Iowa. The family moved to Goldfield where he was raised and educated, graduating from Goldfield High School “Class of 1951”. 

Burt served in the United States Army 1956 -1958, serving several months in Germany.

Burt was a skilled mechanic and stayed involved in the family business’s – Mobile Service Station/ Fjetland Oil Company/Fjetland Auto Parts - even a car wash and laundromat – for over 70 years

Burt passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at Clarion Wellness and Rehab Center, at the age of 88 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emile Fjetland and Louise Fjetland Ross; stepfather, Dell Ross; sister, Eloise R. (Fjetland) Maassen and nephew, Scott Maassen. 

He is survived by his brother, Galen Fjetland and his wife Pauline of Goldfield; niece, Rhonda Sinnema and nephews, Marc, Bret and Dave Maassen.

Funeral services were held on Friday, April 1, at 2 p.m. with visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
