The Dick Bell Invitational Cross Country Meet

The Dick Bell Invitational Cross Country Meet will be held On Tues. Oct. 8th at the Eagle Grove golf course. Named in honor of the long time editor and publisher of the "Eagle", this meet, for nearly a half century, has included many of the most outstanding athletes and teams in the state.

This year will continue the tradition by hosting about thirty boys and girls teams plus Junior High boys and girls squads. Included in this list will be teams and individuals ranked highly within the state. On the boys side, South Hardin is ranked third in the state in Class 2A, West Fork ranked fifth in class 1A and Humboldt ranked eleventh in 3A.

Among the girls teams, Emmetsburg is currently ranked fourteenth in class 2A. Many outstanding individuals will be running the course. Quinton Orr of Humboldt has been listed as either the number one or two male runner in the state all year long. Kolby Winter of South Harden, Taylor Meyers of Estherville Lincoln Central, Justin Wright of Clear Lake, Jake Hejiak of Garner-Hayfield and both Seth Hershey and Riley Witt of St. Ansgar are among the states best. Among the girls leaders are Bryce Giden of Humboldt, Abby Christian of Garner- Hayfield and Lea Friedle of Eagle Grove.

The Junior High teams will start the evening at 4:00P.M. with the girls J.V. and two classes of girls Varsity next and the boys J.V. and two classes of Varsity races to finish the day.

Everyone is urged to come out and support the excellent Eagle Grove squads in their only home appearance .
