Eagle track & field team finishes fifth at Umstead Relays

The rescheduled Umstead/Lady Eagle relays were held last Saturday as a co-ed meet, with Humboldt taking the title with 138 points. They were followed by: Lake Mills 64, Clarion- Goldfi eld-Dows 63, Nashua-Plainfi eld 54, Eagle Grove 53, West Hancock 27, Forest City 19 and Newman Catholic 15.

Highlights included a second place fi nish by Hunter Lund (25.63) in the 200, with Zach Burns grabbing third (5’ 6”) in the high jump. The 4x8 and distance med relays were also both third.

“I was very happy with how we ran,” stated head coach Ben Demuth. “Hunter was followed by Cole in third. They beat some good kids in that race. Zach had a personal best, along with Austin. I was very pleased with that.”

In other individual events, Demuth felt Moe and Chris both looked strong in the 100 dash. “Spencer’s 400 time was off, but he looked good,” said the head coach. “He’s always wanting to give you all he has. It was also Gabe’s fi rst 400 race. He surprised us with his time. Josh and Jacob were up in the top fi ve on the opening lap of the 800. Both were competitive, and I know they’ve got the ability.”
