Eagles edge past West Hancock 10-9

Last Monday night at Britt, the Eagle Grove varsity baseball team made the most of the only six hits they got against some tough West Hancock pitching to just get by 10-9 over the Eagles to the north. With the visitors up 4-2 going into the bottom of the second. The home team plated seven scores to take a nice lead. That is all they would get for the night, as the purple and gold chipped away at it before a four-run sixth put it in the win column.

The visiting Eagles had only six total hits for the night, with two of those being a triple each for John Mosley and Niko Padilla. Mosley had three RBI and scored twice, while Padilla fi nished with two RBI and crossed once. Colton Poncin was 2 for 5, powering his bat to two doubles while driving in three runs. Thomas Matthes singled and crossed the dish twice, Espejo singled and scored a run and both Jake Darland and Brayden Lyman crossed for a score each. Smith scored twice and Saxon Lyman had an RBI. Mosley and Espejo both stole a base, while Smith showed a great eye at the plate in drawing four walks.
