Eagles lose tight game with Indians 12-8

Despite a good display of power at the plate, which included a homerun and three doubles, the Eagle Grove varsity baseball team still didn’t have enough offense to offset a good Forest City team in a 12-8 home loss on Monday, June 25. The Indians went right to work in the top of the first, plating four counters and held a 7-2 lead going into the bottom of the third. After the Eagles used that half to close the gap to 7-4, an Indian five-run fourth would eventually prove too much to overcome.

For the night, Padilla was 3 for 3 with the homer and a double, three RBI and three runs scored. Espejo was 2 for 3 with two RBI, while Halverson went 2 for 4 including a double and two RBI. Mosley stroked a double in his only connection and drove in a run. Ryan Smith, Saxon Lyman, Colton Poncin and Brayden Lyman all added a base hit each, with Smith crossing the dish three times and both B. Lyman and Brady Beck once each.

B. Lyman took the loss, allowing just four earned runs on six hits over 3 1/3 innings. He gave up three walks and had one strikeout. Padilla pitched nearly two full frames with one strikeout.
