Lady Eagles team fourth at Dick Bell

The Eagle Grove girls varsity portion of the Dick Bell Invitational saw Denver take the team title with 36 points, followed in the top fi ve by Newman Catholic with 78, Emmetsburg with 87, Eagle Grove with 102 and Saint Ansgar with 137.

Lea Friedl fi nished seventh (no times available for varsity due to timer problems), followed by Megan Schafer in 14th, Megan Sampson in 24th, Hannah Sampson in 28th, Kaitlin Sampson in 31st, Alecia Anderson in 32nd, Brianna Ell in 33rd, Lili Lobato in 47th, Brenna Andrews in 74th and Jozey Gump in 75th.

“We seemed to run with nerves, which is typical in front of your home crowd,” stated head coach Mike Herrington. “Seemed like we didn’t pack up quite as well as we had the last couple weeks, but those things happen. Good thing is we have time to get that corrected heading into the conference and state qualifying meets. I felt Lea got out and ran a very strong race from the start, which allowed her to finish towards the front of a strong fi eld. Megan Schafer keeps regaining her 2017 form, which is great for our chemistry as we head forward. The team that packs up the best and challenges each other’s times will be our conference champions. We will have a full roster, and will definitely leave our efforts on the course.”
