Leslie Herschel Larson

Leslie Herschel Larson was born on March 11, 1926 to Lars and Nannie (Helleland) Larson in Eagle Grove.   He was raised in the Thor area and was a member of the “Class of 1944” at Eagle Grove High School.

On September 21, 1947, Les was united in marriage with Esther (Vinnece) at the Badger, Lutheran Church.  The couple made their home on the Helleland farm southwest of Eagle Grove and raised four children. Les moved to Rotary Senior Living in January of 2018 and Esther joined him in July.

Les was a life-long farmer, he enjoyed the on-going education he received from farming and he liked trying new ways and new technology.  Les and Esther enjoyed many vacations together, their 20 some winters in Greene Valley, AZ and in their younger years going dancing.  He was a sports fan, watching many football and baseball games, and definitely loved large, color television, and satellite TV.  Les also enjoyed playing cards- like Summerset and 500, with the old gang in Thor.

Les was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church, the ASCS/FSA Board and the Gold Eagle, W&H and Vincent COOP.

Les passed away on Friday, November 27, 2020 at Rotary Senior Living, at the age of 94 years.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
