Mickey Cooper recognized for giving back to others

“We’re put on this Earth to serve, not be served.” That is Mickey Cooper’s motto, and anyone who knows Cooper well, knows she tries to live by it every single day of her life.

“When I started working at Eagle Pharmacy two years ago, I was amazed how much she does for, and to this community,” said Barb Anliker.

Last September, she and other staff members at Eagle Pharmacy decided it was time Cooper be recognized for all of the volunteer work she does. They nominated her for the Iowa Pharmacy Association (IPA) Bowl of Hygeia Award - the most widely recognized international symbol for the pharmacy profession. It is considered one of it’s most prestigious awards and recognizes people for their involvement in pharmacy work and volunteerism in the community.

While Anliker got busy composing a letter to prospective community members asking them to write a letter of recommendation on Cooper’s behalf, Deb Knudtson got a list of names together of people to send those requests to.

“The first (letter of recommendation) we got back was from Dr. Dustin Smith,” said Anliker.
