Ronald Eugene Streitilmier

onald Eugene Streitilmier, the son of Bernard and Hazel (Shaw) Streitilmier, was born on November 1, 1949, in Fort Dodge, Iowa.  He was raised and educated in Eagle Grove, graduating from Eagle Grove High School in 1968.  He served in the United States Army from February 26, 1970 to October 1, 1971, during the Vietnam War, receiving the Vietnam Air Medal and Bronze Star Medal.

 

      Ron was united in marriage with Kim Kidd at the United Methodist Church in Goldfield on August 3, 1974.  They moved to Eagle Grove in 1986.  Ron was a truck driver for M&M Livestock and DEKALB®.  He retired from Dollar General Store in Eagle Grove.

 

       Ron was an “outdoorsman” – he loved to hunt, fish and search for Indian artifacts (a.k.a. – Rock Hound).  He was a proud member and supporter of White Tails Unlimited and Pheasants Forever.

 

       Ron passed away unexpectedly – but doing what he loved on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion, at the age of 71 years.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ronald and Glen.

 

       Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Kim Streitilmier of Eagle Grove; son, Aaron Streitilmier of Eagle Grove; daughter, Stacy Lenning (Mark) of Goldfield; grandchildren, Dylan and Ellie Lenning; sister, Darlene Riley (Gary) of Creston; brother-in-law, Mike Kidd (Cheryl) of Spirit Lake; sisters-in-law, Kristina Knight (Larry) of Arizona and Mary Streitilmier of Eagle Grove and his nieces and nephews.

 

        Visitation is Thursday, February 25, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.  Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
