Freddie Lee Schnell

EAGLE GROVE – Freddie Lee Schnell, the son of Frederick and Flora Maxine (Robinson) Schnell, was born on September 14, 1942, at the family home in Goldfield. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth, graduating from Goldfield High School “Class of 1961”. 

On December 2, 1962, Fred was united in marriage with Marilyn Kelley at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. 

Fred was a skillful carpenter, involved in many aspects of construction and owner of Fred Schnell Custom Building & Remodeling.

Fred enjoyed fishing, golfing, gardening, yard work and nature. He was an Iowa Hawkeye and St. Louis Cardinal’s fan.

Fred passed away on Monday, March 21, 2022, at Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove, at the age of 79 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; younger sister, Patsy; brother, Barry Brandt; brother-in-law, Marvin Reichter and nephew Bryan Reichter.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Schnell; daughters, Nancy Schnell (Doug Harkema) and Brenda Adams (Kevin); three grandchildren: Lindy Evje, Brandon Evje (Heather) and Hailey Adams; five great-grandchildren: Kaylynn, Keylyee, Kiyah, Korah and Lincoln; sister, Janet Reichter of Altoona; brother, Larry Brandt of Joplin, Missouri and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Friday, March 25, at 3 p.m. with visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. 

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
